MOKOKCHUNG — The Ongpangkong Students' Conference (OKM) has issued a scathing condemnation of the alleged rape of a student in Mokokchung town on September 30, describing the act of accused 27-year-old Sumon Subba, son of Jay Bahadur Subba, as a “barbaric” assault that has deeply shaken the community.
In a statement, the OKM labelled the incident a “deep disrespect to society as a whole” and demanded that authorities handle the matter with utmost urgency and seriousness.
The conference called for full justice for the victim, including appropriate legal penalties for the offender, maintaining that it would not remain passive observer to injustice. It asserted to take “every necessary action” if officials fail to act decisively.

The OKM reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with the victim and her family during, stressing that such brutality will never be tolerated within the Ongpangkong jurisdiction.
“We will take this matter with the utmost seriousness and leave no stone unturned in seeking accountability now and in the days to come,” the statement read.
The OKM also issued a broader appeal to all individuals to refrain from such merciless acts.
