Mokokchung, July 8 (EMN): Mokokchung police arrested a 33-year-old woman on Thursday in connection with alleged physical abuse of a minor child.
An update from the PRO and Additional SP Mokokchung stated that a first information report (FIR) was received from the centre coordinator, Childline 1089 Mokokchung, alleging that a minor child had been physically abused at Sangtemla ward in Mokokchung town.
In this connection, a case was registered at Women police station after obtaining cognisance from the court, following which one person identified as Ganga Rani Borah from Nagaon in Assam, currently residing at Sangtemla ward, was arrested.
A case has been filed under section 323 IPC R/W section 77 JJ Act and investigation is on, it stated.
The centre coordinator of Childline 1089 Mokokchung informed Eastern Mirror that a report about physical abuse of a minor was received at around 1 pm on July 7.
‘As an NGO to protect child rights and deliver Justice, Childline1089 Mokokchung immediately contacted the victim and other subordinating agencies for assistance,’ they said.
The minor was taken for medical examination under the supervision of the police and an FIR was lodged at around 7 pm on July 7, the NGO informed.
It added that the minor had been rescued and kept under the care of the Child Welfare Committee and next of kin has been contacted.
