A 34-year-old man from Longleng district drowned at the Doyang hydro dam after a canoe capsized on Sunday.

WOKHA — A tragic drowning incident occurred on Sunday at the Doyang dam viewpoint side, claiming the life of 34-year-old Anyak Phom, a resident of Yongphang village in Longleng district.
The deceased was reportedly employed as a driver under the establishment of Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Wokha.
According to sources, he was aboard a worn-out canoe along with three companions when the vessel capsized around 11.30 am, submerging all four. The other three managed to swim ashore safely.
The incident caused panic in the area, prompting locals to rush to the site. One individual reportedly retrieved the body of the deceased, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
A brief service was held at the CMO office in Wokha before the body was sent to his hometown.
