A drunken driver in his early ‘30s has been arrested by Dimapur traffic police at around 6 pm on Saturday, after the Alto car in which he was driving rammed into three vehicles near Nagi Hotel in Dimapur. Two persons, including a pedestrian, were injured in the mishap. One of them succumbed to injuries.
The unidentified pedestrian, aged 50 (woman) was rushed to District Hospital for treatment but succumbed late night to her injuries while one Sharup Das whose scooter was also hit by the Alto car is said to be admitted at Zion Hospital with minor injuries.
The accused, identified as one Nese Doulo, was driving an Alto car bearing the registration number AS 02G 9760. Officer in charge of traffic zone- I, LM Patton said that the driver was proven to be inebriated through a breather analyzer test. The accused is being held in the custody of Dimapur East Police Station. Further investigations are on.
