Dimapur, January 5
One person was seriously injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast at Erose Lane, Dimapur which occurred at around 8:50 pm on Monday. The injured has been identified as one Longjam Ojit Meitei (30). He has been admitted to the hospital, police said. Longjam Ojit Meitei is a resident of Sabunkhok Makha Leikai, PO Lamlong under Lamlai PS of Manipur.
Police suspects that the IED was in the possession of the injured person. They said the bomb might have exploded while he was trying to plant it. The other suspect fled from the spot taking advantage of the gathered crowed, informed police.
Police also recovered two more IEDs neatly packed in tin container from a Manipur registered Maruti 800 car (MN-1A-4462) which was parked just some yards away from the blast site.
With the nearing of Republic Day, police suspect that the bombs are being used to create fear psychosis in the mind of the people.
At the time of filing the report, the police could not ascertain the group to which the injured person belongs to.
Meanwhile, till the filing of this report the bomb squad is yet to reach the spot.
