Dimapur, October 17 : East PS personnel of Dimapur police arrested one person today and seized the weapon he allegedly used for firing blank shots inside and outside The Vilos Collection Imitation jewellery shop at Nyamo Lotha Road, Dimapur for refusing to pay ‘yearly tax’, OC, East PS Dimapur said in a release today.
During investigation, the arrested person was identified as ‘SS” Kapur of NSCN-IM (civil wing), Lovika Ayemi, aged 26 years, son of Yeheto Ayemi, of Vishiyi village under Nuiland PS and present resident of Thahekhu village, the release said.
The police said at around 5 pm on Sunday, an unidentified person fired blank shots inside and outside the jewellery shop on being refused to pay yearly tax and forcibly snatched cash amount of about Rs 5000 and one mobile phone from the shop and fled away.
On receiving information about the incident, OC East along with his personnel conducted spot verification and recovered one empty case and one bullet head of 7.65 ammunition from the spot. The Telecom Data Analysis Unit (TDAU) traced the location of the miscreant to Thahekhu village and accordingly conducted search at his residence (rented house). However, he was not found in his place and reportedly left for Jalukie from where he proceeded to Piphema and Vishiyi village under Nuiland PS along Assam border, the release stated.
The police searched all these locations but in vain and arrested him from his village.
A case has been registered against the arrested and investigation is on, the release added.
