One dead in wall collapse in Diphu

[caption id="attachment_201732" align="aligncenter" width="500"] The collapsed wall.[/caption] Our Correspondent Diphu, Aug.17 (EMN): With the collapse of a retaining wall cum boundary wall at the resident of former MAC, KAAC, Kanjang Terang, here at Rongtharve due to heavy down pour, a 12 year old girl Serdihun Teronpi was buried under the debris. She was pulled out with the help of earth mover and her dead body was taken to Diphu Civil hospital this morning for postmortem. Terang said it might be around 12:30 am that the wall collapsed. Deceased Serdihun Teronpi was the d/o of Babu Teron and Kaham Kropi of Tuluhi Engleng village, Chomna Parai, Longchap under Bakulia PS. She was studying in class-IV Ove Chari LP School, Rongjangphong, Diphu. The room Serdihun was staying was completely crushed. Only with the help of torch lights we could search for things. Former MAC Kangjang Terang said the continuous rain and water has percolated making the earth loose leading to collapse of the wall. “There were no cracks but due to continuous rain it collapsed. It was an unfortunate incident and I express grief to the family of Millik for losing Serdihun,” Terang said. Earth mover was called in to pull out the body of Serdihun. In the morning her dead body was taken to Diphu Civil hospital, Terang told.  Police was informed about the incident. Former MAC Terang further informed that as it was a natural calamity, which could not be stopped. But on humanitarian ground has extended all possible help needed to Millik’s family. “From taking the body of Serdihun to Diphu Civil Hospital, arranging vehicle to take her body home to Chomna Parai including cash and kinds required for performing rituals was given. Ration was also given,” Terang told. This afternoon DC, Karbi Anglong Mridul Kr. Mahanta along with magistrate visited the place. Police complaint has not been made by victim family members.
