A one day Creative Arts Workshop was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Seikhazou Kohima on November 19, 2016 with members of “Backstage Campaign” as resource persons. This was stated in a press note issued by the organizers.
The Group comprising of Naga Artists in different creative fields such as photography, painting, writing, baking, paper craft, videography, découpage, creative carpentry, fashion Design, music, modelling, etc was formed with the belief that student life is a backstage, preparing to face the real stage in life.
Towards this end, the artists have come together to give back to the community, particularly the underprivileged group and the students in general. With the desire to be part of the shaping and moulding by way of sharing their experiences as well as motivate and challenge students to think differently and live it out, the Group believes that giving is the greatest language of love.
It has also observed that our education system does not make one employable especially in the non-conventional employment sector. While asserting that the government cannot absorb all, it recognizes that art plays a vital role in restoring culture and tradition, and the need to discover one’s forte at the early age, to turn trying times and struggles into a weapon of expression, and further translate them into a beautiful piece of art, to channelise the youthful energy into something positive and to rediscover the marvel of God’s world to unite the Artists.
During the one day workshop, students of Class 12 of GHSS, Seikhazou were given an overview of the variety of creative fields that they can explore in the near future.
