Khwarakpan (Bishnupur), Dec. 28 (EMN): A one-day consultative workshop on ‘Climate Change Reporting’ was held under the aegis of Media Resource Centre Manipur in collaboration with State Climate Change Cell of the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Manipur at the PP Park Khwarakpan in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Wednesday.
Joint Director Dr. T Brajakumar Singh of the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Manipur, senior editors Pradip Phanjoubam (Imphal Review of Arts & Politics), Irengbam Arun (Imphal Free Press), Khogendra Khomdram (Sangai Express), Salam Rajesh (Columnist) and media fellow recipients and young journalists were present during the workshop.
In the day’s consultative workshop, Prof. Pradip Kumar, Head of department of Department of Geography, Manipur University delivered a lecture on the land resources of the state and its impact on climate change.
The media fellow recipients of the 3rd Media fellowship programme of the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change also shared their experiences including the challenges during the course of the ongoing year long fellowship programme on the topic ‘Climate resilient land resource management in Manipur’.

Apart from organising a group discussion programme, they also shared their point of views on the climate change issues and the role of media in educating the public for mitigation and adaptation initiatives in the region.
Scientist Dr. Manichandra Sanoujam and senior editors made their respective reflections during the workshop while senior journalist Sobhapati Samom moderated the session.
According to the organisers, the basic idea of the workshop is to build the capacity of the media fellow recipients and intending journalists for media fellowship programme on Climate Change Reporting, especially young journalists working in diverse fields in the state. It also targets to make more understanding of climate facts, reporting in simple common language and popularising peoples’ science.
