‘Man paid INR 700-900 per day by outfits’
Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): The Dimapur police have arrested on Jan. 18 one person on charges of extorting from truck drivers in behalf of underground groups NSCN (IM), NSCN (U) and FGN. It was informed that the extortionist was paid INR 700-900 per day by outfits.
Police updates stated that the truck drivers were reported to have been transporting sand and bricks from Khushabill village. This was informed in a press release issued by the establishment of the additional deputy commissioner of Dimapur police.
It was informed that the police arrested one Atovi Aye (36) of Sapotimi village under Suruhuto in Zunheboto and presently residing at Burma Camp in Dimapur. INR 4060 was also seized from his possession, the press release informed.
During preliminary investigation, “The accused reveal that he used to collected Rs. 200 each per vehicle for NSCN (IM), NSCN (U) and FGN and since Dec. 2017 he has been voluntarily indulging in collecting tax for various UGs and for which he was paid Rs. 700-900 per day from the respective outfits,” the police report stated.
