Imphal, July 9 (EMN): In an attack by suspected armed cadres of an unknown insurgent group, one Assam Rifles soldier was killed while some others were injured in a border area of Manipur in Kamjong district on Monday morning, sources said.
When contacted, police confirmed the report saying that the incident took place about 30 km away from Kamjong district headquarters.
The banned Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), in a press release to media houses in Manipur, has claimed responsibility for the attack. It said that a special team of the PLA’s tactical command carried out the attack that took place in between Kangpat Khunou and Khullen in Kamjong police station of Kamjong district around 9: 20 am on Monday.
The PLA is the armed wing of the RPF. The identity of the deceased was yet to be established when this report was going to the press.
