ICAR-KVK Dimapur organises on-campus training programme on natural farming for Krishi Sakhis.

DIMAPUR — A five-day on-campus training programme on natural farming for Krishi Sakhis was conducted at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur, from January 12 to the 16th.
The programme was organised by ICAR-KVK Dimapur, in collaboration with the District Agriculture Offices of Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima, an update stated.
The programme covered key aspects of natural farming, including soil health management, preparation of bio-inputs such as Beejamrit and Jeevamrit, mulching, seed treatment, cropping systems, and natural pest and disease management. Practical demonstrations and interactive sessions were conducted to enhance hands-on learning.

Resource persons for the programme included Dr. Bendangla Imsong (CTO, Plant Breeding), E Lireni Kikon (ACTO, Plant Protection), Dr. Marneni Divya Sree (SMS, Agricultural Extension), Imliakum Pongen (ACTO, Farm Manager), Dr. Moanaro (Technical Officer), and Dr. Akshay Ujjwal (SMS, Agronomy), who shared their expertise and guided participants through interactive sessions and group discussions.
The training was inaugurated with a welcome address by Dr. Phool Kumari, Senior Scientist-cum-Head, KVK Dimapur, who highlighted the importance of natural farming for sustainable agriculture and the vital role of Krishi Sakhis in its promotion.
The training concluded with sessions on the role of Krishi Sakhis in advisory services and action planning, followed by a valedictory programme where certificates were distributed to the 36 participants from various villages.
