Kohima, April 15 (EMN): After gap of almost a year, patients suffering with cleft lips and palate in Nagaland can once again avail free surgery and live normal life. Thanks to the doctors from Shija Group of Hospitals, Imphal, who are set to undertake the mission under ‘Smile Train’ at Oking Hospital on April 29 and 30.
Under ‘Smile Train,’ India has recognised Oking Hospital Kohima as the centre in the State for conducting safe operations to cure cleft lip and palate under Mission Nagaland of Shija Group of Hospitals, Imphal, Dr. Kh. Palin told media persons at Hotel Japfu here today.
He personally would be conducting the surgeries along with experts from Shijah Hospitals and nurses from Oking Hospital.
Maintaining that there would be about 3300 cleft patients in Nagaland, he asserted to provide even travelling allowance to patients coming from far off villages.
So far, Smile Train Cleft Shija Project under Mission Nagaland, in collaboration with Oking Hospital Kohima, covered more than 600 cleft patients in Nagaland.
He said the treatment will be absolutely free including free medicines, free operation, travelling allowance.
Meanwhile, cleft week will start from April 17 to 23 to spread awareness on cleft lip and palate.
