DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 22
The “parent body” of the Naga National Council on Tuesday condemned New Delhi’s decision to auction oil fields of Nagaland. A press statement received here today stated that “these properties are not Indians but fully belong to the Naga people and they (India) don’t have any right to auction or extract our Naga oil by force.”
It stated that this was a violation of human rights of the highest order by the government of India. “The Naga National Council must tell the state government of TR Zeliang under the Union of India to realize before it is too late that present government of India will never respect or honor their constitution of article 371
A as it is clearly shown and acted against by auctioning oil blocks of the Naga property in complete violation of their constitution.
“Therefore TR Zeliang ministry should dissolve the state assembly once for all in support of Naga freedom of sovereignty for the best interest of Naga people as a whole. The Naga National Council must say again that the sovereign right of Naga people should be supported, protected and recognized by the world at large.”
