
DIMAPUR — Amid complaints of delay in road projects, a team of officials undertook a joint inspection of the national highways and urban roads, including the Kohima-Dimapur four-lane package 3, Kohima bypass, Kohima–Mao road and Kohima town roads on Saturday.
The team comprised of Kohima Deputy Commissioner Kumar Ramnikant, Superintendent of Police, RO, EE of NPWD (NH), EE NPWD (R& B), EE Urban, EE Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL), National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and contractors, informed an official update.
During the inspection, the team detected potholes, uneven surfaces and unkempt foliages, which were brought to the notice of the NHIDCL and NPWD, respectively. The team also inspected installation of signage and line markings.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The DC advised the NHIDCL and NPWD to ensure comfortable, safe and quality ride on all NH roads from Kiruphema to Khuzama, in view of the upcoming Hornbill Festival. He also highlighted the dilapidated bridge at Peducha-Dzudza and other minor bridges along the Kohima–Mao highway stretch.
“The team also visited the sinking zones at various locations. Clearing of soil, mud, rocks debris and beautification of National Highway was also impressed upon NHIDCL and NPWD,” it stated.
Further, the team inspected the ongoing construction of the Kohima bypass tunnel and T Khel model village road connecting NH-39 (Old) and NH-61 (Old).
Traffic management and alternate routes for easing traffic congestion, particularly during the Hornbill Festival, were also explored and verified by the SP Kohima, it stated.
