Dimapur, March 24 (EMN): An 80-year-old senior citizen from Nagaland was allegedly forced to strip by the CISF personnel during a security check at the Guwahati airport as they wanted proof of her titanium hip implant.
Taking to Twitter, the daughter of the victim who is also an acclaimed anthropologist, shared that her 80-year-old disabled mother was forced to undress during security check.
Her tweet read, “@CISFHQrs My 80 year old disabled mom was made to strip at the CISF security check at Guwahati airport. The security personnel wanted “proof” of her titanium hip implant and forced her to undress” @himantabiswa@guwahatiplus@GuwahatiAirport. Is that how we treat seniors?”
She also stated in her tweet that, “she is not able to bend down and remove her undergarment due to her artificial hip. The CISF security personnel was harassing her for that too.”
Further, the Guwahati International Airport replied to her and apologised for the incident and asked her contact details to speak with her.
Jyotiraditya M Scindia, the union minister for Civil Aviation, government of India, also replied to her tweet saying, “looking into this”.
Meanwhile, the victim’s daughter shared that she met with the Guwahati airport authorities while the DIG of CISF also reached out to her over the phone. The tweet read, “Met with Guwahati airport authorities and CISF officials to follow up. The DIG of CISF also reached out over the phone. They have assured me that the matter will be taken up. Thank you for promising to look into the case”.
