Dimapur, October 25: The first Government High School (GHS) in Nyang village under Longleng district was inaugurated on October 25 by K Khawakhrie, Deputy District Education Officer (DDEO), Longleng, as the chief guest at the GHS compound Nyang village.
The DDEO, addressing the members of the school staff and village council, advocated on ‘sanitation’ to enable friendly environment for students to learn in a conducive atmosphere. He also called upon the School Management Development Committee (SMDC), Village Education Committee (VEC), teaching staff, students and the public to work together to promote and imparting quality education.
Khawakhrie pointed out that the school itself will not progress unless the SMDC, VEC, teachers, students and the respective community co-operate with each other to run the school efficiently. In this regard, he has sought the combined efforts from the community for the school to function effectively. With the mushrooming of educational institutions in this modern era which enablesd any person to receive education, he however lamented that acquiring quality education is limited to those who have thecan finances. He remarked that ‘it is a harsh reality that every individual needs someone to finance their education, be it in any institution.’
He called upon both the teachers and parents to extend equal role in bringing out the best in the students education now that the village has received full fledged high school at their doorstep, where many villages are not fortunate enough to get one. The DDEO also reminded the community to care for and respect the school as it has become the village property which will benefit the whole community.
The inauguration programme was chaired by Niamkup, teaching staff of GHS, which was followed with a prayer said by pastor of Nyang Baptist Church, Yeman Lakpan. Chingok, VEC Chairman, delivered the welcome speech and a special number was presented by the Gospel Wing group of Nyang Village.
