Nagaland Wrestling Association conducts selection trials in Viswema for the National Games 2027.
DIMAPUR— The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, conducted a training camp starting from August 20 for a period of two months ahead of the National Games 2027, to be hosted by Meghalaya.
The selection trial, covering the wrestling disciplines of Greco-Roman, Freestyle, and Women’s Wrestling, was completed on Tuesday at 10 am at the Viswema Multipurpose Hall in Kohima. The training camp continues, and further selection trials are anticipated.
According to an update, the selection trial is intended to identify and select talented wrestlers to represent Nagaland at the 39th National Games. The trials included 45 eligible wrestlers from the Angami, Chakhesang, Zeliang, Chang, Sumi, Pochury, Sangtam, and Rengma communities.
The selection trial was supported by the co-opted Technical Secretary of the Nagaland Wrestling Association and State Wrestling Coach in the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Kikhwesül Thokhwe, Coach Suryansh Sehrawat, and Assistant Coach Thechamo Murry.
