Dimapur, Nov. 28 (EMN): The District Task force (DTF) for malaria elimination under the NVBDCP (national vector borne disease control programme) was held at the DC's conference hall on Wednesday which was chaired by the deputy commissioner of Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, who is also the chairman of the DTF. The meeting was attended by officials from the departments of agriculture, fishery, education, social welfare, municipal corporation and NGOs (Team metamorphosis) and other stakeholders, stated Dr. Zathung Lotha of NVBDCP in a press release.
During the meeting, the deputy CMO, Dr. Zuben Kikon highlighted on the importance of the inter-sectoral collaboration and working as a unit to achieve the elimination of malaria in the district. DVBO Dr Zathung Lotha presented the information on the vector borne disease covered by the NVBDCP in the district and its preventive measures. The DVBC, Wezolo Medo presented the district scenario and activities carried out in the district and the objectives of the DTF in respect to the targets of the district and the national Framework of malaria elimination in correlation as a whole before the discussion hour.
The DTF chairman, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon emphasised on the participation of all the involved stakeholders to achieve the requisite targets and penetration of service to all its citizens and behavioural changes as to bring a rapid stride in gaping the service delivery.
All the participants representing different departments and the stakeholders shared their inputs and layouts to initiate changes from their end in working together in a cohesive manner under one direction.
At the meeting, the idea of bringing larvivorous fingerlings for vector control measures which is inexpensive and environment friendly was also discussed. Induction of health talks into school curriculum and morning assembly will be put into action. Also health talks during VHNDs and dissemination of information on usages of LLINs (long lasting impregnated bednets) with the help of community participation was highlighted. The chairman also said at the end of the day the ideas conceived in the meet should be put into action were also discussed.
