Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): Nagaland University Students’ Union, Lumami, (NUSU L) has sought clarification from the Department of Education on the recent disbursement of post-graduate scholarship on instalment basis for the year 2016-17.
NUSU (L), as representative of the student body, wished to know under which policy of the government the recent scholarship was issued on instalment basis and how has the policy applied to students in Nagaland.
NUSU (L) president K Chumseli Anar and the general secretary Esther Lohe stated that most of the students depend on their scholarship for paying their admission fees, hostel fees, books and other requirements, adding disbursement of scholarship on instalment basis not only deprive the students of their rights but also hampers the academic growth of the student community.
NUSU (L) has requested the concerned department to give clarification on the issue at the earliest, failing which it cautioned the department and government would be held solely responsible.
