Dimapur, April 30
The Nagaland unit of the Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) has asked the government to review the Nursing Service Rule. The rule stipulates ‘50% open competition and 50% direct appointment.’ The Trained Nurses’ Association of India unit requests the government departments in concern on Thursday to review the presently proposed Nursing Service Rule of ‘50% open competition and 50% direct appointment’.
It is against the interest of nurses in general, the organization stated in a press release issued through the media on Thursday. In another matter, the association has expressed support to the number of demands placed by the Unemployed Trained Nurses’ Association of Nagaland (UTNAN). The latter had submitted a list of demands, which included creation of posts, to the government on April 20 last.
In the press release, the association stated that the need for creating posts and upgrading healthcare centers such as hospitals and community health centers ‘should be taken up as a genuine matter’.
Addressing the demands would ‘solve stagnation and pave the way for the unemployed trained nurses in the state to fill up the vacant posts in the higher cadre at the earliest,’ the nurses’ association stated in explanation.
