Dimapur, Dec. 29 (EMN): Addressing the 58th general session of the Zhavame Students’ Union on Friday, MLA Deo Nukhu underscored the need of learning one’s mother tongue.
The session was held under the theme “Bridging the past, cultivating the future” at Pame Tsudu, Zhavame village.
Nukhu said the Non-resident Indians (NRIs) are returning back to India to teach and help their own people.
He stressed the need for students to study persistently for competitive examinations while also laying emphasis on vocational education and learning technical skills for job-oriented employment.
Prior to the session, Nukhu unveiled the union flag while S John Krocha, Catechist of St. Xavier’s Catholic Church invoked God’s blessings.
Highlights of the day’s programme included special appearance by Lisü Nukhu, presidential address by Medovi Rhi, releasing of the tenure magazine, sharing by Dr. Rosou Pohena (CTSE, NPSC 2016 batch), “Fly” by Mosurhü Dukru, general secretary report by Derhü Pohena, meritorious award, declaration of new office bearers by the ZSU Election Commission, act of blessing by Rev. Fr. James Sangtam, principal of St. John School, Razeba.
