Dimapur, April 10 (EMN): The three volume book edited by Prof. Lungsang Zeliang, Narola Chuba and Dr. M Rajendra Nath Babu and published by APH Publishing Corporation, New Delhi was released on April 10 at the office chamber of Pro-Vice Chancellor Nagaland University, Kohima Campus in Meriema. An update received from DIPR on Tuesday informed.
Speaking at the book release, Pro-Vice Chancellor Nagaland University Prof. RC Gupta said it was proud moment for the department of Education to be releasing the three books written by his colleagues. He said the book will be very helpful for teachers in dealing with various problems, challenges, perimeter indicator, quality indicator, current issues and others.
He challenged the educators in the campus to be more engaged in the academic work adding that age has nothing to do with the good work one can do. Knowledge is unending, he said and urged the educators to organise more seminars and project works in future.
Highlighting the achievement of the Nagaland University, pro vice chancellor said that in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) held in 2018, out of 750 universities across the country, NU secured 95th position in the ranking which is commendable as compared to 2016 ranking where NU was in 227th position. He said this achievement could not have happened if not for the support of both the teaching and non-teaching staff of NU and added that in the coming years NU will stride forward and target the 50 ranking position.
Also delivering a short message, HOD of Education department, Prof. Lungsang Zeliang said that the book will not only enable prospective teachers to gain knowledge of their subject matter but will gear them to communicate effectively and work with dedication. She also expressed gratitude to all her colleagues and especially to Pro VC for their moral support, guidance and inspiration for making the project a successful one.
The first volume of the book—‘Teacher Education-Issues and Challenges’ has 4 units which deals with quality teacher education, innovative strategies and practices in teacher education, ICT in teacher education and other related areas.
The second volume—‘Quality Concerns in Teacher Education’ has 4 units which deals with Teaching skills and skill development in teacher education, life skills and soft skills through teacher education programme, role of guidance and counselling in teacher education programme and others.
The third volume—‘Teacher Education-Quality Indicators’ has 4 units which deals with issues and challenges in teacher education, assessment and evaluation of teacher education, ict in teacher education and other related areas.
