DIMAPUR — The Hindi department of Nagaland University (NU), Kohima Campus, organised a one-day online national seminar on May 18 titled "Marginalised Society and Hindi Cinema: Various Aspects," which explored the intersection of marginalised communities and their representation in Hindi cinema.
According to a press release, Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, the vice-chancellor of Nagaland University, was the chief guest at the seminar. The speakers included Pramod Kumar Meena, head of the department of Hindi at Tezpur University; Dr. Vibhawari, assistant professor in the Hindi department at Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida; and Dr. Mohammad Shameem, associate professor in the English department at Halim Muslim Postgraduate College.
The seminar was compered by Dr. Anuj Kumar, assistant professor in the Hindi department at Kohima Campus, Nagaland University, and Ashish Kumar, Hindi officer. The sessions were chaired by Jano S Legise, dean of the School of Humanities and Education; Nigamanand Das, head of the department of English; and Dr. Munni Choudhary, head of the department of Hindi.
The seminar provided a platform for discussions and the exchange of ideas on the portrayal of marginalised societies in Hindi cinema. It highlighted various perspectives and fostered academic discourse.
