Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): The Women’s Studies Centre, Nagaland University organised one day seminar on “Creating awareness about Childline 1098” on Nov. 10 at Kohima campus.
During the seminar, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. R C Gupta spoke on the global and national scenario of children. He stressed on the importance of nurturing the young minds by creating and leaving positive impressions in them. He also dwelt on the genesis and the present status of the organisation and urged that it is not only the responsibility of the organisation alone but it is for everyone to contribute and support towards this noble cause.
“Even if one cannot change the world, we can change the world of one person,” Gupta added.
The resource person Subonennba Longkumer, nodal director Childline Nagaland and governing Board member Childline India Foundation spoke about the organisation and its functions. He also shared issues of children in difficult circumstances in the state replete with case references.
Longkumer also stressed on role and functions of the Juvenile Justice (Care & protection of Child) Amendment Act 2006 & Rules 2007 and Child Welfare Committee.
A short film on child sexual abuse was screened followed by interactive session. Seyievinuo Chüzo presented a special number. The keynote address was by Director of Women’s Studies Centre Prof. Buno Zetsuvi while concluding remark and vote of thanks eas delivered by project officer, WSC, NU Petekhrienuo Sorhie.
