Kohima, Nov. 15 (EMN): ‘Zoommax 2017,’ the ninth edition of the annual management fest organised by School of Management Studies (SMS), Nagaland University, on the theme ‘Reaching out the inner you’ got underway at State Academy Hall, Kohima, on Wednesday.
T Kiusumong Tikhir, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, and the chief guest for the inaugural session, encouraged the students to focus on private sector jobs rather than depending on the government job stating that job opportunity in the government has reached a saturation point.
He has advised the students to change their mentality by venturing into private enterprise rather than look into government job.
Stating that core human values are the pillar of our society, Tikhir called upon the students to be integrated with human values along with the education. He also encouraged the students to take part in extracurricular activities as it would hone their leadership skills. He hoped that the students will learn something new in the fest that will be helpful in their life.
Mhasilie Sirie, convenor, speaking about Zoommax said it was a non-profit festival with the objective to offer a platform for the students to explore and express their talents and skills in various fields of events.
The festival is a platform for the management students to put classroom learning into practice to hone management skills through real-time event management said Sirie.
He said the theme was based on the idea that people who have skills and talents, but are unable to explore in the society until and unless someone reaches to them. He said Zoommax was aimed at reaching out for such talents by providing a platform to explore and built between the students and their talents.
The three-day inter-college fest will see students competing in various literary and cultural events such as seminar, debate, mock interview, panel discussion, Mr. & Miss Zoommax, extempore speech, beat contest etc.
The inaugural session was followed by debate, essay writing, biz quiz, singing (solo), mad ads, and submission of business plan on day-1.
