DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Transparency Public
Rights Advocacy and Direct Action Organisation (NTPRADAO) on Thursday announced
that it will embark on its next course of action in regard to the alleged INR
1649.35 crore JJM scam.
The announcement comes after the PHED reportedly failed to
constitute an SIT or departmental inquiry commission to probe into the alleged
scam, as assured by PHED Minister Jacob Zhimomi in a live TV broadcast on
October 20.
In a press release, the NTPRADAO stated that it will be
devising a multi-pronged strategy and go ahead with its planned agitation until
it achieves the desired result.
As a first step, the organisation disclosed that it will be
writing a letter (with “all relevant documents” attached) to both the Prime
Minister and BJP national president for them to take immediate action against
minister Zhimomi by asking him to step down on “moral grounds and also for
initiating Central Vigilance Commission inquiry against Principal Secretary
Mhombemo Patton.”
Next, the NTPRADAO said it will submit a memorandum,
detailing all the corruptions that have taken place in the JJM implementation,
to the governor of Nagaland for his reference and onward submission to the
President of India, the Prime Minister, and Union Minister for Jal Shakti.
According to the organisation, the final course of action
will include mass agitations demanding the resignation of the PHED minister,
suspension of the principal secretary and filing of cases against Repangyangba
Longkumer and N Thsathrichem Sangtam, former chief engineers of PHED who served
between 2019 and 2023.
Additionally, the demand includes suspension of all the then
executive engineers and some present executive engineers involved in corrupt
practices between 2019 and 2024.
