DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Transparency Public Rights Advocacy and Direct Action Organisation (People’s Justice) [NTPRADAO (PJ)] has criticised Public Works Department (Road and Bridges) Minister G Kaito Aye for what it termed as “insensitive remarks” regarding the ongoing IAS induction issue.

In a statement, NTPRADAO (PJ) condemned the minister for “illogically and unilaterally appealing to the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) on IAS induction to reconsider its ongoing pen-down strike”, adding that his remarks “deeply hurt the moral sentiments and good conscience of the overwhelming majority of the Naga populace in Nagaland”.

The organisation said that Aye’s comments came “at a wrong time and a wrong place”, when the Naga people were “desperately crying for justice for future Naga generations”.

NTPRADAO (PJ) questioned the minister’s statement, “Let us not drift into a situation where public offices and services are overshadowed by agitation,” and asked why “the government of the day is so insensitive and unrelenting for the welfare of the interest of the entire government officials instead of choosing a favourite back-door appointee, even after more than two weeks of continuous struggle for justice.”

The organisation also lauded the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) and the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) for openly supporting the JCC’s demand, “notwithstanding or forgoing any nature of undue pressure tactics from any external quarters”.

It further appealed to all civil society organisations, intellectuals, writers, and concerned citizens to “speak to their inner being and conscience” and extend support for the JCC’s cause until an amicable settlement is reached.
