DIMAPUR — Nagaland
Transparency Public Rights Advocacy and Direct Action Organisation (NTPRADAO)
expressed shock at certain "founding members" of the
organisation—Keduta Chakesang, Phemching Konyak, Zuchamo Patton, Temjenmar,
Albert Kire, and Ikato Zhimomi—for stating that they have distanced themselves
and the organisation from the allegations against the Public Health Engineering
Department (PHED).
In a press statement, NTPRADAO said that with its original
and fully intact office-bearers, advisors, CCMs, and executive members, it
collectively and unanimously condemned such “gimmicks” by those individuals.
It further noted that on October 23, 2024, a unanimous
decision was made to 'impeach' Ikato Zhimomi, general secretary (Public
Policy), Albert Kire, general secretary, and Temjenmar, executive member, for
"falsely tarnishing the image of the organisation due to illegal undue
pressure from outside forces." They are now considered 'persona non grata'
and expelled members with no locus standi in the present context, it added.
It also stated that former president Keduta Chakesang and
former general secretary Zuchamo Patton have already tendered their
resignations, making them 'persona non grata' and having no direct role in the
functioning of NTPRADAO.
NTPRADAO further unanimously and collectively expelled and
impeached president Phemching Konyak on the grounds of anti-organisational
activities and for associating with expelled and resigned elements. The
expulsion of Phemching will stand indefinitely.
It maintained that the former members are even liable for
legal action and proceedings under defamation law, which may likely follow.
It said that “it shall never succumb to undue pressure
tactics from any external forces while fighting against corruption and human
rights issues” and vowed not to let the organisation be hijacked by
“unscrupulous and selfish vested interests.”
NTPRADAO, through a "unanimous voice vote,"
elected its present advisor Mhabemo Lotha and formally/officially appointed him
to the post of President, NTPRADAO, with effect from December 17, 2024, until
the time he enjoys the complete confidence of the organisation.
