Dimapur, March 21 (EMN): Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) on Wednesday welcomed the recent statement by the NSCN that the outfit was ‘not averse to peace’ which was published in the local newspapers and appealed to the government to bring all the political groups to the negotiating table.
“The NTC welcomes such magnanimity and once again appeals to the GOI to restore ceasefire and initiate political negotiation with NSCN so as to eventually bring all NNPGs to negotiating table for an inclusive talk,” stated a prelease from the council.
The NTC stated that it was a ‘positive gesture’ and a timely response by the group to the call of the people. It also reminded that although the Nagas had suffered a lot from political turmoil, it stated that the Nagas now deserve to live in peace.
“As much as the Nagas had suffered from political turmoil out of political movement for years together, that much the Nagas deserve to live in peace,” it stated.
“At present although one ceasefire is in place for the for the last two decades, the Nagas remain ‘wanting for peace’ as there is no real peace in the prevailing situation because all the Naga political groups are not in ceasefire with GOI,” it added.
