DIMAPUR, MARCH 28
Taking note of Governor’s concern over ‘scam and corruption’ in Education department, Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) said, like many other departments, the education department is infested with series of mismanagements to the extent of siphoning salaries of its employees. The NTC therefore, urged the concerned authority to immediately start making a beginning in cleansing the systems which have been in shambles for years.
A statement issued by Media Cell, NTC today said, “More for wrong reasons, Education department used to be in the local news more often than not due to non-release of teachers’ salary, for not providing requisite teaching staff to government schools, misappropriation of Midday Meals, etc. It does not mean that corruption in other Departments are tolerable, and yet such degree of mismanagements in human resource department such as Education has serious impact on the wellbeing of our children. The Education Department may not be realizing how such scams can ruin the career of lakhs of our children which is a matter of serious concern for all.”
The NTC lauded the governor for urging the chief minister in particular to order for ‘thorough probe’ into the scams of the department.
“Taking notice of the plight of teachers and the suffering school children and initiating steps to address the long felt grievances is laudable.”
