NTC concerned over situation in Tuensang

EMN Dimapur, January 11 [dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Nagaland Tribes Council has expressed its concern on the situation in Chessore and Chendang Saddle villages and appealed to both Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC) and Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS) to explore all possible means to resolve the conflict and work out permanent solution to create conducive situation for members of both the communities to coexist and restore the age-old relationship.“The Nagas at this stage are passing through a very crucial stage in our history when unity is needed above all and we need to take up collective responsibilities to determine our own destiny. The Nagas of Nagaland in particular are facing situation where our unity and collective actions are needed to maintain inter-tribes relationship while facing challenges from within and outside forces. It is our collective responsibilities to create conducive atmosphere to usher in healing to all our self inflicting injuries to provide peaceful co-existence and the strength of unity to address all our issues that are confronting our day to day life” stated a release issued by Media Cell, NTC. The NTC appealed to both the parties to exercise magnanimity above all differences to give peace and reconciliation a chance to restore time tested brotherhood between the two communities. The NTC urged the State government to give utmost effort to provide good governance and strengthen the rules of law so that narrow tribal conflicts and differences are removed from the society.

YPCC on exigency of Tuensang tribal, sectors union resolve

While acknowledging the appeals made by SUTT, KUTT, PUTT, and various other communities of Tuensang town for peaceful and cohesive existence in response to the report that appeared in local dailies today, the Yimchungru Public Co ordination Committee (YPCC) has clarified that the word “quit notice” was never mentioned in the write up which can be availed from the press for any further rectification, adding it was misinterpreted for the word “Public Notice” which is ‘quite natural as to err is human.’ The YPCC while appreciating the initiative taken by the CKS in convening a meeting for restoring peace and tranquility within Tuensang town in adopting some resolutions, implored the latter to recall the past events/incidents that occurred sequentially (In box).1. Issuance of quit notice to Yahkor residents of Tuensang town by Changs on 11/08/2012. 2. Rampant felling of standing crops belonging to Yimchungru at C/Saddle on 07/08/2014 by Changs. 3. Issuance of quit notice to Kuthur residents of Tuensang town on 12/11/2014. 4. Abduction of Mrs. Kiuthsangla Yimchungru and her teenage daughter Chilula Yimchungru on 09/12/2014 by Changs. Their whereabouts unknown till date. 5. Vehicle belonging to one Yimchungru damaged by Changs from Tuensang town on 11/12/2014. 6. Ransacking and damage of residential building belonging to Zungkum, Tokiu, A.M.Hopong and Kejingba in Tuensang town on 11 and 12 December 2014. 7. Razing down of 17 houses belonging to Yimchungrus at C/Saddle on 12/12/2014. 8. Frisking of Shamator bound Sumo Tata on 05/01/2014 between Saddle and Yahkor village armed in full IRB uniform querying any Yimchungru travellers/commuters threatening to terminate Yimchungrus. 9. Ransacking and damaging of residential buildings at Tuensang belonging to Chipong DB, Ahoshe and Kiukhum, VCC Thsotokur village on 07/01/2015 by Changs. 10. Burning down remaining houses of Yimchungrus at C/ Saddle on 07/01/2015.  YPCC Convenor, Lunthrungba Yimchungru and general secretary, Lokhum Y.S. Yimchungru in a release said, in spite of the intolerable atrocities, the Yimchungrus of Kuthur village, in good faith released N. Mungko Chang of Chingmei village and J. Sako Chang of Chingmelen village unharmed to the district administration despite tense situation on January 7 abiding administration’s order. While stating that, “If a single misprinting can cause such severe panic and havoc to all the other tribal communities dwelling in Tuensang, the YPCC expressed dismay that no condemnation statement was given by any organisation/union/tribal bodies in Nagaland in connection to the incidences. In the light of this, the inhabitants of Tuensang town in particular and the people of Nagaland in general are entreated to take the place of Yimchungrus and commit to urgency for peace as desired, the release added.
