NTC alarmed over ‘false indigenous tribe’ certificate

EMN DIMAPUR SEPTEMEBR 14 THE Nagaland Tribes Council opposed to the proposal of the state government to accord indigenous tribe status to the Rongmei community in a press release appreciated the action of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) for reviewing the candidature of Ms. Pausuipeule Gangmei selected for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil) under PHED against the Backward Tribe ( BT) quota of the Zeliang tribe vide result of the CTE-2013. The release states the selection of Ms. Pausuile Gangmei vide NPSC/CON/-15/2007 dated, kohima the 2nd Sepetember, 2014 was cancelled by the NPSC after the Zeliang People’s Organisation (ZPO), Kohima, made a representation stating that Ms. Pausuile Gangmei is not from the Zeliang Community but from Rongmei Community. Hence, she does not fulfil the criteria for BT reservation or indigenous status of Zeliang tribe. In another notification, the NPSC yet again reviewed and put the result of Mr. Lalal who was selected for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil) under PWD under BT quota of Zeliang tribe as per the result of CTE-2013 in abeyance till the identity of Lalal is ascertained. The release states rightful candidates are being deprived of their rights due to false and manipulated documents and the Zeliang People’s Organization, Kohima for defending the rights and privileges of the deserving Naga tribes of Nagaland. The release also states one ‘Sanchui Kamei, a Rongmei candidate bearing Roll No. 1831 was selected for recruitment to the post of LDA-Cum-Computer Assistant under the department of Social Welfare and Security, Nagaland. The candidature of Sanchui Kamei was nullified and all his false documents were deemed cancelled by the concerned authority’. The NTC has lauded the intervention of the Zeliang Students’ Union, Kohima and urged all other organisations to be ‘vigilant for such unscrupulous people and protect the rightful citizens of the state’. NTC has cautioned the district authorities not to issue false indigenous inhabitant certificate, BT certificates and other permanent residential certificates without proper verification in consonance to the law of the land to avoid further complications detrimental to the rights and privileges of the citizens of the State. ZPO standing with NTC The Media Cell of Zeliang People’s Organsization( ZPO) in Nagaland, in a separate press release states it has ‘resolved to unstintingly protect, and even confront, on such necessity, all ulterior motives that are designed to jeopardise the stand of native Zeliang people of Nagaland in particular and the Nagas of Nagaland in general, from within and outside’. The statement says ‘the resolution was etched on Saturday September 13, 2014 in a consultative meeting of the native Zeliang people of Nagaland under the aegis of Zeliang People’s Organisation, Nagaland their Apex tribal organisation and its affiliated units including the Zeliang Mipui Maadi (Women Organisation); the Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland; the Zeliang Youth Front, Nagaland; the Zeliang Students’ Union, Kohima and Dimapur; held at Ngwalwa Village. The meeting has also resolved to uphold unequivocally the activities of NTC which was formed October 12, 2013 at APO Hall, Kohima and issues NTC is associated with namely the pertinent issues of NSDZ and Rongmei recognition.
