Dimapur, Feb 18: Responding to the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN), Nagaland Tribes Action Committee (NTAC) today said it never portrayed the people of Zeliang tribe of Nagaland as “anti-Naga.” NTAC Media Cell clarified that it was adhering to the February 7 resolution wherein it was resolved that any tribe of Nagaland who goes against the demand of JCC and NTAC should be declared as anti-Naga. It said JCC’s demand was initially for the extension of the ULB elections as signed at Chumukedima. It however, stated the Cabinet betrayed the agreement and thus led to the death of three lives and destruction of several government offices. It expressed surprised as nowhere and never had the people of Zeliang tribe of Nagaland been portrayed “anti-Naga” in Nagaland. Meanwhile, it invited the Zeliangrong Baudi office bearers for a threadbare discussion. In a related statement, Joint Action Committee (JCC) has hit out at the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) for the taking the current political imbroglio and the bandh/agitation by people of Nagaland along tribal lines. JCC Media Cell today said despite repeated clarifications by JCC and NTAC that the ongoing bandh was devoid of any political agenda or ‘ism’ and neither directed attack on personal reasons, it said the Zeliangrong Baudi failed to see that the agitation by the people of Nagaland was to defend the rights of Nagas. JCC reminded the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) that the unfortunate situation was the sole making the of the NPF government which was brought about by ‘treacherous act and dictatorial attitude of TR Zeliang.’ It rather accused that Zeliangrong Baudi seemed more concerned for the loss of chief minister’s chair by their tribe than the loss of three patriotic Naga boys who have sacrificed their lives for Naga cause. It, therefore, said the attempt of Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) to paint the issue on tribal colour was an insult to the rest of Naga tribe. It further reminded the Zeliangrong Baudi not to play ‘cheap victim and narrow “ism” politics but see the larger picture for their own benefit that is the unity of all the tribes. Meanwhile, JCC has announced to relax the bandh on February 19 as the day being a Sabbath Day.
