
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (NSSWB) has cautioned the public to be aware of scammers, who are making fraudulent calls and sending text messages claiming to be officials from Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) office with an attempt to hack bank accounts of gullible beneficiaries.
The modus operandi, according to NSSWB, was that the scammers would call a person and seek details bank account. The scammers would also send a QR code on WhatsApp to scan with assurance to transfer money to their bank account under the PMMVY scheme.
It added that some amount would be credited to the bank account by the scammers following which the bank account would be hacked or drained after a few minutes.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]In light of the above-stated circumstances, the additional secretary of the Social Welfare Department and NSSWB secretary, Bodeno S Colo, has notified the deputy commissioner and chairperson of Mission Shakti District Level Committee in all the districts to inform and instruct all concerned functionaries for the wide dissemination of information that such calls do not originate from the PMMVY cell. NSSWB secretary informed that bank account details are never asked over the phone or no QR codes are sent.
Those who receive such calls are asked to report to District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) or call women's helpline no. 9485239098.
It mentioned that PMMVY under Mission Shakti is a conditional maternity benefits programme of the government of India. It added that all eligible beneficiaries could avail the scheme free of cost by applying online through citizen registration at https://pmmvy.nic.in or through the nearest Anganwadi centres/ CDPO’s office or DHEW attached to the DC office.
