Dimapur, Aug. 10 (EMN): Northern Sumi Students’ Union (NSSU) has warned of initiating its own course of action as per the constitution against any teacher resorting to proxy teaching as well as transfer of teacher with post without the consent of the union and the village authorities.
NSSU stated this following its educational tour within its jurisdiction from August 5 to 8 during which it inspected both government and private educational institutions. The tour was undertaken to observe the functioning as well as developmental activities and infrastructure progress of the services provided by the government, stated an update from NSSU president, Puloto G Awomi, and the general secretary, P Samuel Chophy.
On the theme ‘Mission doing right,’ the union conducted meetings with VEC, GBs, council chairmen, teachers in-charge along with teaching faculties. The objective of the tour was to address the issues of proxy teaching. The union also appealed to the State government to ban transfer of teachers with post under Northern Sumi inhabitant circle.
During the tour, the union detected absence of teachers in all the primary schools and expressed displeasure over the poor academic performance by the students.
The union visited primary schools in Akuhaiqa, Khakuthato, Shihaphumi, Atuphu, Sumito, Zuxushe villages. It also visited the Government Middle School at Puneboto as well as private institutions like King David School under NSBAK (Nito Mount) located at mission centre Aqakito, Delino School under NSBAK (Aizuto) located at Mission centre Puneboto, and Spring Buds Orphanage School located at Shihaphumi village during its phase-I education tour 2019.
The union could not visit all the villages due to bad road conditions but assured to cover the remaining village during phase-II education tour.
