Dimapur, Jan. 15 (EMN): A three-day 38th biannual conference of the Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) held in Baimho village on the theme ‘Embracing the versatility’ concluded on January 14 with the advisor of School Education, KT Sukhalu, as special guest.
Speaking at the valedictory programme, Sukahlu exhorted the students to have an aim in life and study with sincerity stating that to excel in present times one has to be best among the best. He added that the decision to set up Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) was not for the politicians but to promote meritocracy and give equal opportunity to everyone to get themselves employed according to one’s own dedication and hard work. In this regard, he encouraged the students to be sincere in their studies, a DIPR report stated.
Sukhalu also requested the village heads and elders to take good care of the government properties particularly the government schools in their respective villages. He added that the decision to set up government schools in every village was not for the benefit of the government but to give free education to all the children everywhere. He also requested them to take care of the teachers and to stop the practice of proxy culture in all the villages saying that as it would only affect their children’s career and future.
The advisor also advised the student leaders to take a day out in the next session and organise workshops for the students by inviting intellectuals and qualified persons as resource persons in order to guide the students, clear their doubts, as well as for their future educational endeavours.
The programme was chaired by ZRSU former general secretary Amento Awomi, while an invocation prayer was said by N Atozhe Awomi, pastor of Yemishe Baptist Church, and the presidential address was delivered by Nito V Zhimomi.
