Govt agrees to pay pending salary of SSA teachers within November
KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 2: The Nagaland SSA Teachers Association (NSSATA) has called off its protest after the State Government agreed to meet their demands Wednesday morning. The association launched its second phase agitation in the form of sit-in protest against non-payment of their salary for six months on Tuesday.
In a letter addressed to the NSSATA president on Wednesday, Commissioner and Secretary School Education FP Solo assured that the government will release the pending salary of the SSA teachers within the month of November 2016.
The letter also said the inclusion of the salary of SSA teachers under non-plan shall be taken up at the appropriate time as and when the centrally sponsored scheme of SSA comes to an end.
Maintaining that it has been following the rules and guidelines of the National Mission Authority of SSA, the State Government asserted that it follow them in future also so as to felicitate timely release of installments and avoid delays in payment of salary.The government further assured to take all necessary steps and measures to the possible extent to ensure timely release of salary of the SSA teachers.
Meanwhile the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) who also visited the agitation teachers expressed solidarity with the aggrieved teachers.
NSF president Subenthung Kithan while addressing the teachers said the federation has been supporting their demands from the beginning.
Informing that it has been mediating between the government and the executives of NSSATA, the NSF regretted despite all these efforts, it has been wrongly alleged in the social media.
Kithan also appealed to the teachers to perform their duties diligently since final exams were approaching.
The Central Nagaland Students’ Association, Concerned Citizens of Nagaland and Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat have extended their solidarity to the aggrieved NSSATA teachers.
NSF acknowledges, appeals
The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) while acknowledging the Government for addressing the demands put forth by the NSSATA urged it to strictly adhere to the written assurance given to the teachers’ association.
It also appealed to the teaching community to sincerely discharge and execute their duties as students will be appearing their examination with the academic year coming to an end.
