Dimapur, Aug. 1 (EMN): Members of the National Service Scheme (NSS) of Don Bosco College in Kohima has launched what they called a “compassion channel,” which is stated to have been envisaged to ‘create a platform for NSS volunteers to earn while learning and to give them the opportunity to give back to the NSS adopted village Chedema.’
The organisers issued updates on Thursday informing about the programme. There were five groups with 16 members overall who volunteered to work as part of the compassion channel, the updates stated.
Each group came up with different creative activities such as writing books, baking cakes, selling flowers, selling clothes, or creating lottery to earn profit in various ways, the press release stated.
On July 31, the updates stated, members of Compassion Channel with their gained profits reached out to children of Chedema village by contributing books, stationeries, water filters and clothes to the students of the two primary schools at Chedema.
A talk about the concept of ‘compassion channel’ was delivered during the event. Besides, Gifts were distributed among primary school students, the press release stated.
