Dimapur, July 9 (EMN): With the objective to develop understanding on the concepts and various aspects for effective livelihood planning, Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) conducted training on ‘Livelihood perspective’ for the district functional specialists (Livelihood) and the assistant district programme managers at SIRD from July 6-8.
The training was conducted with the support of national resource persons empanelled by the Ministry of Rural Development and from national support organisation PRADAN. Delivering the keynote address, Athel O Lotha, Mission Director NSRLM, mentioned that one’s technical knowledge on agriculture or livestock gained from universities may not fully empower a person for direct implementation of livelihoods intervention since there are various dynamics involved in planning and execution. She, therefore, urged the mission staff to take advantage of the training, capacitate oneself and translate the knowledge to the grassroot people. She also stressed on the need to genuinely understand and feel the challenges faced by the rural people so as to address these challenges through interventions of NSRLM. As part of the training, field visit to Khuzama village under Jakhama Resource Block was facilitated for field exercise of the classroom learning of the previous day. The third day involved integration of classroom and field learning to develop further plan of action for the 9 Resource Blocks of NSRLM.
