Dimapur, March 7 (EMN): District Management Unit (DMMU) under the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) conducted a two-day block level training of community service providers (CSP) on potato farming and inauguration of pig breeding unit programme in Chuchuyimlang block under Mokokchung district on March 5 and 6.
An update from the unit stated that the resource persons during training on improved organic potato farming at Longkong and Yongyimti villages were DFS, NSRLM Takalemba Jamir and NSRLM area coordinators Imsuakum Pongen and Temsurenla Kichu.
The guest of honour for the inauguration of the pig breeding unit at Mongsenyimti village was Taliyanger, DRDA project officer Mokokchung. The programme was chaired by village facilitator Temsujungla, while an invocation prayer was said by pastor of Mongsenyimti Compound Baptist Church Rev. Imti.
It stated that an overview of the pig breeding unit was delivered by Takalemba, while short speeches was the guest of honour and chairman of Mongsenyimti village council. The vote of thanks was delivered by the VLO president Odinaro and the dedicatory prayer by Abenla.
It added that the programme was organised as part of the DAY-NSLRM’s annual action plan for the year 2020-2021. It was aimed at promoting improved organic potato farming and pig breeding practices in order to enhance the income of women farmers and reduce their input cost, risk and drudgery.
Altogether, 60 participants attended the programme.
