DIMAPUR — Nsong Students’ Union (NSU) has called off its school agitation after the School Education department met its key demands, including the appointment of Science teachers and rationalisation of teacher postings.

A press release issued by the union on Saturday stated that the department had issued a notification announcing the same.

With this, schools under the jurisdiction of the union will reopen from Monday, August 25, it informed.

According to the NSU, the department notification includes rationalisation of teacher postings, covering the appointment and redeployment of Science teachers—one of the union’s principal demands.

Furthermore, distinctions among subject-specific Graduate Teachers have been withdrawn, and all Graduate Teachers, except those teaching Mathematics and Science, have now been categorised under a single group, thereby addressing the long-pending demand for English teachers.
