DIMAPUR — While condemning the infighting and killings within the NSCN/GPRN K, the Naga Students Organisation (NSO), Myamnar, has demanded that NSCN/GPRN K Ang Mai immediately release Chopkhiu Gangsa and Chingsan Wangham, residents of Chop village, Londing district, without harm.
The student body stated in a letter to the group that the arrest of village leadership had created fear and tension among the village people.
It went on to say that the Naga people cannot bear the continued infighting and killings within the NSCN/GPRN K, kidnapping of village leaders, ransom demands, harassment meted out to the public, and the loss of innocent lives.
“The violation of the five-point consensus adopted on June 13, 2023, only compounds the shame that befalls those who claim to fight for Naga freedom,” it said.
It further clarified that the NSO Myanmar, through various meetings, has made it clear that Eastern Nagaland Myanmar cannot sustain more than one organisation due to the prevailing poverty and food crises; above all, they don't encourage division and mushrooming of factions in Eastern Nagaland Myanmar.
“Imagine being forced to feed two NSCN groups at gunpoint while struggling with hunger,” it said, imploring that the NSCN/GPRN K overcome differences, reconcile, and unite.
Meanwhile, it appealed to the security forces, particularly the Assam Rifles, to refrain from random interrogation and harassment that violate the patrolling code of conduct of students travelling home for the holidays.
