Dimapur, April 9 (EMN): A member-secretary of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority, attended a two-day regional conclave at Hyderabad on April 7 and the 8th. Updates on Monday informed.
The member, Mezivolu T Therie, was stated to have delivered a speech about ways ‘forward to prevent human trafficking in Nagaland.’
The conference was organized for the officials from department of Women and Child Welfare / Social Welfare, police, judiciary and civil society organizations.
Representatives from South Asian countries - Bangladesh, Thailand, Nepal and Myanmar and around 150 delegates from all over India participated.
The format of the conference was designed to include the sharing of the lessons learned from ‘Swaraksha’ campaign, the impact thereafter and proposed plan to replicate the campaign across the region, it was informed.
It has mentioned that ‘Swaraksha’ (self-protection) a community awakening caravan conceived and pioneered by Prajwala in close partnership with the Governments of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa, supported by the US Consulate General Hyderabad and Catholic Relief Services (CRS), was launched on January 9,2016, in Hyderabad, Telangana. As the first of its kind survivor-led community-awakening caravan, the campaign was also unique in the collaborative partnership successfully established on the ground with the State Governments and civil society.
