The two-day orientation training programme for the panel lawyers for advancing lawyering skills organized by the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) concluded on April 23.
Justice LS Jamir, Judge of Gauhati High Court, while delivering the valedictory address, said the orientation training programme was a success. He hoped that the traits on the professional ethics of the advocates has been instilled in the minds of the participants and be followed by them. He also remarked on the 7 new schemes introduced by the National Legal Services Authority in the year 2015 and hoped that it would be implemented effectively in all the districts of Nagaland under the initiatives of the panel lawyers.
He urged the participants to stand united, work hard and have a clear concept on the objectives of the legal services authorities. He stated that Nagaland State Legal Services Authority under the leadership of the Member Secretary has been doing a tremendous work and is expected to continue with the good deeds in the near future. Stating that panel lawyers are the link between weaker sections of the society and the court in delivering justice, he therefore said the panel lawyers are lesser to none. He encouraged them to penetrate deep into the remotest area so that the weaker sections are not neglected.
After the valedictory session, Justice LS Jamir presented the certificates to the participants of the two day orientation training programme.
Member Secretary NSLSA, Mrs. Nino Iralu, NJS, gave a summing up of the sessions and opined that the programme would yield good result on the part of the panel lawyers from all districts. She said the orientation training programme would be organized quarterly where success stories from the participants are expected in the days to come. The vote of thanks was proposed by Tongpang L Jamir, Master Trainer NSLSA.
Earlier, the day witnessed 4 sessions where different topics were presented by the resource persons namely Ms. Limasenla Longkumer, Project Coordinator of A2J Project; Joshua Sheqi, retainer and legal aid counsel; Mrs Esther Aye, legal aid counsel; and Ms. Cheliam Khiamniungan, Master Trainer. Special topics were delivered by the Senior Advocate of Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, CT Jamir; A Zho, Advocate; Ms. Visevonuo, Principal of Kohima Law College; and Imti Imsong, president of Dimapur Bar Association.
