Dimapur, Nov. 17 (EMN): The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) bade farewell to former member secretary, Mayang Lima, NJS during the culmination of the three-day refresher training for panel lawyers at the Directorate of State Institute of Rural Development on Friday.
Speaking at the tribute session, Lima expressed hope that legal services authority with the motto “Access to justice for all” will continue to grow from strength to strength for the benefit of the people. He also encouraged panel lawyers to render best and timely services to the people who are in need of legal aid.

Delivering valedictory address, Judge Gauhati High Court and Executive Chairman NSLSA LS Jamir, urged panel lawyers to maintain ethics and integrity while taking up legal aid cases particularly because weaker section of society seek legal aid. He also advised lawyers to sensitise on the issue of mental health illness and rehabilitation with the help of the para-legal volunteers in their districts. The executive chairman urged the trainees to work with determination expected to have good result after the training.
Jamir also gave away certificates, memento and cash prize sponsored by Department of Justice and Law to the best performing district during the door-to-door campaign held on Sep. 23 to Tuensang District Legal Services Authority and best individual performance to Aketoli J Yeptho, panel lawyer of Kohima District Legal Services Authority.
Earlier, speaking on requisites, success stories and role of legal services authority, Secretary Nagaland State Information Commission Worhonthung Ezung, appraised that the among the nature of information sought through RTI from 2015-16 and 2016-17 the highest are financial followed by incumbency list, schemes, verification, land issue etc. He said over the years RTI applications received have increased with Mokokchung receiving the highest followed by Wokha, while the majority of applications are received from outside the state. He also urged the lawyers to create awareness on the use of RTI especially in the rural areas.
Speaking on mental illness disabilities rehabilitative measures, Clinical Psychologist Themmungla Raman Longkumer, informed that patients with mental illness are increasing over the years. She said treatment is just the beginning of treating mental illness; however rehabilitation institution is lacking in the state. She also told that it is important to know the whole story of the client while taking up cases.
Director National Institute of Electronic and Information Technology Lanuwapang, Spoke on cyber crime prevention, protection, investigation process and steps to be taken by a victim. He also stressed on on cyber forensic and cyber security.
Pointing out that cyber crime is the fastest growing sector of “white collar” crime, he informed that atleast one cyber attach is reported every 10 minutes in the first six months of 2017 in India. He also informed that 27,482 cases of cyber crimes are reported in 2017.
Presenting cyber related crime in Nagaland, he informed that financial fraud/gain is highest with 33%, defamation and sexual harassment with 23%, others 23%, murder case 12% and extortion and illegal arms 9%.
