Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): Taking strong exception at a text message being circulated in various social media groups like WhatsApp and Facebook, linking some of its leaders to an international terrorist group, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has rubbished the allegation and threatened to take legal action against the creator of the content.
The NSF released a press release to the media on Monday stating that it was “deeply pained” by a message accusing one of its former presidents and a current president of “having ‘easy access’ to an internationally designated terrorist group, i.e. ISIS” and that it was “demonstrated in the recently conducted mass rally in Delhi.”
“The federation would like to place on record that the subjected ‘message’ is nothing but a blatant lie created by unknown individual(s) with malicious intent to defame the leaders of the federation and that the general public should not give any credence to it,” read the statement.
“Further, the Naga Students’ Federation direct(s) the creator(s) of ‘the message’ to come clean before the officials of the federation within one week from the date of issue of this clarification, failing which the NSF shall be compelled to pursue the matter by lodging a formal police complaint,” it added.
The apex Naga students' body also appealed to the public to be aware of “fake news doing the rounds in various social media groups and desist from blindly forwarding them.”
