Tangkhul Students’ Union, Tiema-Khe Kidima enter quarters
Kohima, Oct. 13 (EMN): Tangkhul Student's Union and Tiema-Khe, Kidima won their respective pre-quarterfinal match to set up a date for quarterfinals match on October 16 at the ongoing NSF Martyrs' Memorial Football Trophy at Kohima local ground on Friday.
While the journey for Beikrazou FC and Rooster Club, Phesema ended with their loss in the pre-quarterfinal matches of the tournament.
2002 champions Tangkhul Students’ Union overpowered Beikrazou FC 3-0 in the first match to enter the quarters of the tournament.
Tangkhul Students’ Union opened the account through Pirei Shokwungnao in the 3rd minute to take the deserving lead and Thomyo Lishimrah doubled the lead in the 13th minute.
The second half saw a slow start for both the teams; however substitute Huimingam Zinghai made an immediate impact on the pitch and completed the treble in the 70th minute for Tangkhul Students’ Union. The match ended 3-0 in favour of Tangkhul Students’ Union.
While in the second match, Tiema-Khe Kidima defeated Rooster Club, Phesema 1-0 thanks to a stunner from Pokhozo Lohe in the second half.
In a lackluster game, both teams failed to break the deadlock until Pokhozo scored a stunning long-range kick outside the area in the 55th minute for Tiema-Khe Kidima to take the lead. There was no late comeback from Rooster Club as Kidima registered their win to enter the quarterfinals for the second consecutive time.
