Kohima, May 25 (EMN): The 27th general conference of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) will be held from May 30 to June 2 on the theme ‘Amelioration.’ The four-day conference will be hosted by the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) at Chungtiayimsen under Tzürangkong range.
In a press conference held this evening at NSF office, Kohima, it was informed that around 2000 delegates from across the Naga inhabited areas will be attending the conference, while parallel student bodies of NSF from other north eastern states will also be making their presence during the conference.
The introductory session on May 30 is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. with Dr. Benjongliba Aier, Parliamentary Secretary for CAWD & Taxes, Government of Nagaland, as the special guest.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju will grace the inaugural session on May 31 as the chief guest, while the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu will be the chief host of the conference.
Member of Lok Sabha, Neiphiu Rio, will be the special guest for the cultural regale on May 31 afternoon followed by the literary session in the evening hours with the State Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar as the special guest.
On day three, Laisam Samai, Parliamentary Secretary for Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, will speak on the theme in the morning session, while Y Vikheho Swu, Minister for PWD (Roads & bridges), will be the special guest for the valedictory session.
The delegates will depart on June 2 after the de-hoisting of flag, which is scheduled at 8 a.m.
Another important feature of the conference is the brainstorming session which will be held on June 1 afternoon. Speaking at the press conference, convenor of Central Organising Committee, Kelhouneizo Yhome, also a former president of NSF, highlighted the importance of the session.
The session will have the participation of former NSF leaders to discuss and deliberate on the success and failures of the federation till date. The panellists for the brainstorming session are TS Lotha, former president of ANCSU, Dr. Akum Longchari, editor, Morung Express; Subenthung Kithan, president NSF; Inaka Assumi and K Elu Ndang, both former general secretary of NSF.
During the literary session on day two, there will be a debate on the topic “Nagas are economically sustaining as a nation”, wherein 38 student bodies affiliated to NSF will be taking part. The critic of the debate is Neichute Doulo, coordinator (CEO) Entrepreneurs Associates.
Unlike other years where aspiring candidates were introduced only during the election hour, this year, the aspiring candidates to contest for the various posts of NSF executive council for the tenure 2017-2019 will be given time to address the gathering during the introductory session, Yhome informed.
Tzürangkong range falls under Mangkolemba sub-division of Mokokchung district and is situated in the border belt of Nagaland and Assam states.
From Kohima to Tzürangkong range, it goes via Wokha, Mokokchung town and Changki junction. However, the shorter route goes via Dimapur, Silonijan, Golaghat, Titabar and towards Mariani, which is 9 km away from Tzürangkong range.
