Kohima, Oct. 5 (EMN): As their first phase of agitation against the state government’s failure to ‘mainstream’ the SSA and RMSA teachers of 2010 and 2013 batches, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) have announced a state-wide bandh on movement of “government registered NL 10 and NL 11 vehicles”, with effect from October 12.
A joint press release from the federations on Monday stated that the restrictions would continue until further information from them.
“However, vehicles on duty for medical services, administration and police, Fire and Emergency services will be exempted from the purview of the agitation. The federating units and sub-ordinate bodies of NSF and ENSF are hereby directed to initiate necessary ground level preparation in their respective jurisdiction,” it stated.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror, the president of ENSF, Sepili L Sangtam, said that the two student bodies have taken a consensus decision to launch a “complete restriction” on movement of government registered vehicles within the state of Nagaland.
The decision was taken to show their resentment at the government’s failure to fulfil the 2018 agreement, he said.
On October 2, the two student bodies had announced its decision to call for an ‘indefinite agitation’ following the expiry of a 30-day ultimatum served to the state government on September 2 — to fulfil an agreement to mainstream the SSA and RMSA teachers of 2010 and 2013 batches into the State Education department, which was signed on July 12, 2018, between School Education department and Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association.
